Sony Begins Accepting Applications for PlayStation Home Beta

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Sony Computer Entertainment began accepting applications on Thursday for a closed beta test of its PlayStation Home virtual environment.

PlayStation Home is a virtual world where users are represented by avatars and can meet and interact with other users via text chat, voice chat and other unspecified communications methods, according to Sony. In demonstrations given by the company it looks something like a combination of the online Second Life virtual community populated by personal avatars along the same lines as Nintendo’s Mii avatars, albeit with an appearance closer to that of a person and less like a cartoon.

It was first announced in July last year and at the time Sony said it would be available globally in the “fall” of 2007 but that was delayed until “spring” 2008 at the Tokyo Game Show last year. Then, earlier this year Sony said it would be delayed again until a beta test in the second half of this year, which is a promise it has made good on.

Applications are initially being accepted from Thursday until Aug. 11 from users in Japan only. Sony expects to offer access to about 10,000 gamers during the beta, which will begin in late August.

During the beta stage users will be able to play the games that make up Bandai Namco’s “Namco Museum” package, which include PacMan, in the service’s “Game Space.”

Similar closed beta tests are due in other markets at about the same time and an open beta test will commence later this year, said Sony.

Does maturity equal boring?

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

And does immaturity equal fun?

Immaturity would more closely relate to youth rather than fun. The younger you are, the more immature you are relative to how mature you will be in your later years. When people “mature” they are essentially becoming less and less excited about seeing the world around them and also less and less open to different beliefs. This being said, each person will only become so mature and nothing will ever change that. Immaturity is seen as childish and naive because in many ways it is; it is highly related to being a child and later an adolescent.

More mature people will get less excitement from doing things that more immature find amazingly exciting.

———

When we were young and immature maturity seemed like some far of place that we would never reach. When we were growing up big peaple would dangle the world before use like it was some special state of being to aspire for,and we attained it doors would open for us.Maturity was the ticket driving, drinking, having a serious relationship, earning our own money, living our own and being left largely alone to be ourselves and make our own decisions.
Now that i have been an adult for many years,I realize that the descriptions of maturity force upon me as kid were both overrated and underrated.
As an adult I miss being carefree and irresponsible.I miss being immature and reckless and sometimes I allow myself some lattitude to be a bratty kid again whu must have instant gratification.

How do you keep bacon from curling up when you’re cooking it?

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Other than a bacon press?

I find that if I turn the heat down, it curls less. I also flip it more than once so that it cooks evenly. But, if you’re not a fan of hovering and flipping, try putting it on an ungreased baking sheet (lined with non-stick foil is great) in a 350 degree oven for 8-10 minutes. The whole sheetful of bacon will come out nice and crispy and flatter than flat.

MY family is really unhealthy and we are all slightly-moderatly overweight. What should I do?

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

I am fifteen and 5′5′ weighing in at 153 lbs. My dad is (age=?) 5′9′ and 330lbs. My mom is (age=?) and 5′3′ and 180 pounds. My brother is 8 and 110 pounds he is 4′8′.
I would like to lose weight and get them healthier in the process. They are addicted to fried foods and are WAYYY off on their portions. What exercise can I get them to do without fighting them? How do I make them realize that they are extremely unhealthy?
I want them to live to see me graduate, and this is not the right track. I used to weigh 161 pounds but I have been working to lose it. I would like to get them involved.

This is my thing right here. I have a daughter that weighs too much because of medication that she was put on at a young age and I am working with her right now. It sounds like I know exactly what can cure this issue. The “sample” menu that you stated is full of fat, carbs, and starch. All of which are not really bad for you in moderation. But when that’s all you eat then it has no choice but to go straight to your waist line and bottom. If you are able to go to the grocery store with them you can throw in suggestions as you shop. “Mom can we get some salad for dinner?” or “oh wow, an apple really sounds good!”. You obviously know your way around the computer so you can pull up the information on the internet and see if they will listen to you as you read to them that obesity can cause several health issues such as asthma, blood circulation issues and can also cause death. Try to explain to them that you want to live and eat healthier than you have been so you may have a chance to live a longer, happier life. My ideal menu would be similar to this with 3 meals a day and 2 small snacks through the day. You will feel like you are eating all the time, but it is foods that are healthier for you and you will very quickly see a big improvement in the way you look, feel and even carry yourself. Kinda like a total makeover with a slow weight loss process. Losing more than 3 pounds a week is not healthy. Anything more than that you will be losing muscle mass which is very unhealthy! Breakfast: yougurt of your choice, small piece of fruit, 1 slice of toast and glass of fruit juice
mid-morning snack : simple - a piece of fruit (fresh is better for you)
lunch : small salad to start, small portion of lean meat (chicken or fish - baked not fried) NO PASTA OR POTATOES vegetable (green beans, peas or carrots) and fruit for dessert
snack: fresh fruit and glass of low fat milk
dinner: grilled chicken salad or vegetable salad (can be large if you choose) vegetable and fruit with glass of low fat milk and yogurt for dessert.
It seems like a lot of food doesn’t it? You will eat and get full! You will NOT feel like you are starving, I swear. It is healthy and very good for you to not be too heavy! Try this kind of menu for 2 months together and see if everyone doesn’t start to lose about 10 pounds month without lots of exercise. Exercising will only help to speed up the process and help to increase metabolism which is the rate that your body breaks down food so you can burn off the calories that you take in.

www.dietfree.com might help to answer any other questions that you may have. I eat like this and I have never been over 155lbs even after having 3 kids and I feel great!

……………

I am going under the same problem too! Well, the problem with my family is that they do kind of the same but also if they have no time, we order fast food. This is not good, not good at all. What I would do is tell my parents that the family is unhealthy and out of shape and it would do good for all of you to lose weight. They will feel more energized and live longer. Eventually, the doctors will tell your family you need to do something before it’s too late, so it’s better to start now. Have them learn about portions and healthy foods vs. unhealthy foods. First, you need to educate yourself on this topic and spread what you learned. A good website for this would be http://www.mypyramid.gov
As for exercise, start easy. It’s hard to start right away with 2 hours of exercise a day. How about having them do what they love? Some of you might want to try a yoga class. Others might be interested in the gym and sports. How did you lose weight from 166 to 153 (I’m interested!)? Maybe try to share this with your family. Talk to your doctor for help

………….

First of all, I commend you on taking the initiative on this issue.

As for your family, my suggestion is that you set the example and show how happy you are when you healthy. There really is no diet plan that I can give you. In my opinion, you know your family best and you have to come up when it comes to food. Perhaps you can offer to cook and deliberately make the portions smaller. That is one way you can take control on how much you eat

For exercising, I suggest you start taking small steps. Start walking more instead of driving to places. Take the stairs, not the elevators. Park farther away when you go to stores. Then maybe you can go into more conventional exercises. Walk around the track for an hour a day. Take up swimming. Cardio is a must for them to get them on the right track.

And as for talking to your family, I find that inevitable. It’s tough to talk about such a sensitive subject but I feel it would only hurt them more if you don’t talk to them.

………..

Have a talk with ur family and ask them if u could go through ur frig/pantry and throw out any unhealthy foods. then go shopping. buy only healthy foods. next step is try to tell them to cut down on salt. i think theres this seasoning or something that u can use and its just like salt but its not so use that instead of salt. also when u have a talk with them try to make a fitness chart. u know. get creative. i think this might help. oh and also maybe get everyone together and maybe go for a walk in ur neighborhood or somehting.

Did you wake up during the storm last night if you live in the Northeast?

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Did you wake up during the storm last night if you live in the Northeast? I woke up at like 4:00 this morning and it was thundering and lightning in the distance and wind was coming in through the window. At least in Connecticut.

Yep! I live on the Mass/Conn. line and early this morning the thunder and lightning was crazy!

——

Yeah, it woke me up. I live in eastern NY, the thunder and lightning woke me up. Then the wind started howling and rain blew through my window. I basically got a shower from it before I shut my window.

Nursing Dosage Calculation Question?

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Order: 150 mg IV push stat.
Supply: 250 mg/ 5 mL.
Rate: Not to exceed 50 mg/min.

Give _____ mL over _____ min.

First, figure out how many mL you are going to need:

150mg/250mg = .6 (think of this as 60% of the volume or .6*the volume)
.6*5mL = 3mL

so now you have 150mg/3mL, which is 50 mg/mL. So the max you can give in a minute is 1 mL.

ANS: Give 3mL over 3min.

p.s. An easier way to do the first part is to just make a proportion (150mg/ XmL = 250mg/ 5mL), solve for X and you will get 3mL.

Plan on it. The uterus does, after all, sit right behind the bladder if it isn’t completely empty. It’s one of those areas where it’s best not to go looking for trouble.

Which of the following has bond angles of 109.5°?

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Is it SeCl4, XeF4, SiF4 or,SF4? I need help on my chem questions!!

XeF4 seems to e the right choice. All the others will have lone pairs of electrons around them, and will therefore not be tetrahedral when it comes to molecular geometry. Tetrahedral structures are the ones with bond angles of 109.5 degrees. Xe is inert, so XeF4 would probably be the right choice.

What are some good ways I can keep my house cool w/o using up so much electricity?

Monday, July 28th, 2008

I’m using dark curtains right now. Should I switch to light curtains? I’m sure something is wrong with my a.c, and I need to get it looked at…I keep it set on 72, but the temp in my house runs around 78…any help to cool down my house would be great.

You WILL spend money.

If you plan to retire in that home, you can invest in more insulation and a new heat pump. Plant fast growing trees on the south side of the house. Install a Solar Powered Attic fan.

If you are living there only temporarily AND water is cheep, visit a garden dept and purchase a water mist nozzel that puts out one quart per hour. spray this onto your current heat pump. This will increase the efficiency of the air conditioner’s heat/cooling cycle. Shade the heat pump.

Rather than dark curtains, go the automotive store and purchase window tint. The darker the tint, the better the E rating your windows will have, you only have to do this on the sunward side of the house.

If you have an attic, purchase a box fan that will fit the opening. Cut 1/4″ plywood to sit on top the opening. Cut a hole just small enough to mount the fan to it. Turn it on during the evening when the sun has gone down and the outside temp is below 80. Open all the windows on the first floor only two inches. Open the windows upstairs 4 inches. This will cool your house faster than the air conditioner and cheaper. Why the attic? The storage of hot air in the attic will keep the upstairs ceiling hot for the rest of the night. You need to blow the hot air in the attic OUT.

My house has a light switch for an outlet in the attic. I have save five hundred dollars per year by not using AC in late spring and early fall and not using ac in the summer evenings.

———

Change the filter in the AC every 6 months. More expensive option: double paned argon insulated windows. Insulate attic and crawl space. Open and close windows for maximum breeze or insulation needs.

A person was murdered by hitting him by a Vehicle. can a insurance company bound to pay compensation to a murder ?

the insurance company is bound to pay compensation. it is an agreement between the company and the policy holder. i read that there was a judgement delivered in court of England which directed that a murder in which a gang had killed a cashier in a train and looted the case he was carrying be treated as an accident for the purpose of payment compensation. moreover, there was a difference between an unexpected incident and an accident. news in TNIExpress 23/7/08.

What Is Quixtar?

Monday, July 28th, 2008

I am very curious in becoming a member with Quixtar. My question is, what do they do as IBO’s? How do I make money in the business, and how much does it cost to sign as a member in the first place? Does anyone recommend it for me to make some extra cash?

I would NOT recommend it for actually making money. I know many people who have been burned they are MLM.
