He is on 8oz bottles every 3 hours, sleeps 9pm-12 in the afternoon next day (usually)… gets grumpy if i wake him up before 12.
He has been gaining weight really well but within the last week he has only put on 3oz, is this ok? Health visitor was grumpy as usual and didnt say anything apart from do i want to talk to another health visitor? i said no and she said no you dont need to, he seems to be doing well.

Has anyone elses baby got a slow weight gain?
Is 3oz in 1 week ok?

Hi. I also get my son weighed weekly, i just like to follow his rowth. My son was 5lb 7oz born and put on roughly 12 oz week until he was 16 weeks, the last 3 weeks he has only gained between 2-5oz. The hv said they expect it to slow down around this age and as long as they are not losing weight then not to worry. Hope this makes you feel a bit better :)

Are scary books/shows ok for a 5yr old?

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

my niece may only be five but is way ahead of kids her age. id say she is about 7 in mental age. anyhow, i usually like to watch the show Goosebumps with her and her parents told me to stop showing them to her. i watched them when i was about 9…shes not even afraid! i feel like they are pissed at me.

My boys are 3 and 5 and they love goosebumps. If they want you to stop though i would just stop. My boyfriends kids though are 3,7,10,12 and 16 and all watch scary movies and shows with no problem.

Just respect their wishes, it is their child after all! Some parents dont want their kids watching any of that sort of thing, there are tons of things the kid can pick up anywhere from bad behavior to inappropriate language to just bad manners. Bottom line, your parents were o.k. with you watching the show at 9 and she isnt 9 yeat and even when she is, her parents may not want her to watch stuff like that still. Its their call just say oops sorry my bad I disnt think anything was bad about it and tell them you get it and wont let her watch it with you again.

Husband wants kids to call him “Father”?

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

We have our first baby on the way, (2 more months!) and he wants them to call him Father. I personally think Daddy or Dad is more appropriate, I don’t like the sound of them just calling him Father 24/7. A little too proper for me, and I thought for him too, But I guess he just likes feeling like a God (Men and their ego?). On the other hand, it is his name and not mine, but what do you think of it?

Thats kind of weird. I’ve never heard of a dad who wanted to be called “Father”. Did you ask him why? My grandmother called her parents Daddy & Mother, bc her dad was laid back and nurturing, while her mom was uptight and proper. I don’t think there is much you can say/do about it bc you’re right: its HIS name. I doubt it will stick though. If he doesn’t change his mind when the baby is born and everyone has to say “Say hi to Father” or “I’m letting Father hold you”, he’ll almost definitely change his mind when his baby is saying Ma-ma and can’t even begin to pronounce Father! Every dad wants Baby to say Da-da before Ma-ma!
I wouldn’t stress over it. Congrats!

In my opinion, “father” is way too proper. I can only imagine calling my father “daddy” or “dad” I young baby or toddler calling him “father” is just weird to me. Tell him to get his ego in check.

Has he told you his reasons? Maybe that’s just what he called his father growing up, so it’s normal for him.

I would let it go for now. Once that baby starts to talk, her first word will probably be “dada”. His heart will melt and he’ll love being called dada.

Realy scared right now need help?!!!!!!!!!?

my gf is pregnant. she told me right after she found out about 2 weeks ago. the baby isent ganna be born untill late january or early febuary, but im starting to get realy scared. idk why. we have wanted a baby for a long time, but now idk what to do. it’s diffrent now that the baby is ganna be born.

Joe, the same thing happened to me and my baby’s biological father. Being scared is a good thing. If you weren’t scared I would think there would be something wrong with you. Being scared (although definitely not fun) shows that you realize what a huge journey the three of you are beginning. Your girlfriend is probably just as scared as you and chances are she won’t feel like she can say that. After the baby is born you will get that same lump in your gut the first time you see them bleeding or when they are burning up with fever. This fear is practice. Telling you not to worry would be ridiculous (I know), so whenever you have a quiet moment with no one else around grab a pen & paper and write down each thing about this whole situation that scares you. When you finish, go back and for each of your fears jot a couple things that you could do that might make it less scary. Hope this helps. Hang in there and congratulations

I’m 7 months pregnant, baby moves alot is this normal?

Friday, June 6th, 2008

i’m 7 mnths pregnant with the 3rd child and i work in a call center where im sitting down for 5 hours a day,5 days a week.is this healthy for my baby? with my other pregnancies i didnt have any problems but with this one i’ve noticed that my baby moves ALOT!!!, like every minute every hour could it be because of me sitting down alot? i hardly walk because i get tired very easily now. my feet get swollen alot. i cant sleep because the baby is constantly moving. with my two girls i could sleep like a baby because they hardly move, what can i do to stop the swelling and for at least to have a decent night sleep?

This is very normal, it mean you baby is doing great inside you and you have nothing to worry about. You baby is very active. my second one was like that too and now he is 22 months and a handful but very fun to be around. All i can tell you about the sleep is….. your baby is just probably giving you a warning of how it is going to be like when it arrives. LOL

There may be no miracle cure for swelling like another person said but I found something close. This may sound funny but the best thing I found for my swollen feet was to go swimming. My feet where so swollen that it felt like I was walking on a bruise. It hurt so bad. I read something, somewhere, that swimming would help - the cool water combined with the pressure of the water helps get the fluid back into circulation and reduces swelling - it worked like a charm for me. I would go to the pool maybe once a week and that was all it took

Shop Boutiques for One of a Kind Maternity Clothes

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

If you love style then you will want to look stylish while you are pregnant, too. The easiest way to do this is to shop a boutique maternity store. A boutique pregnancy store will have a wide variety of clothes for you to choose from that will not only be beautiful but that will also flatter your pregnancy figure. You should keep in mind that many stores sell maternity clothing that look good. However, if you want to wear maternity clothes that not everyone else is wearing then you will want to shop at specialty boutiques. Keep in mind that your clothes will look beautiful but they will not be affordable. So, you will need to keep your budget open for these beautiful clothes. For some people who are on a tight budget this is not an option. So, for these individuals it is recommended to buy one or two outfits from a specialty boutique they can wear to special events. Then, the other clothes can be average priced items that look good, too, but are more affordable. You can look beautiful and stylish during your pregnancy no matter your budget.
