Is hospitalization in the UK free?

just curious…if it is, does it include surgery and professional fees?

Yes we have a National Health Service which is free at the point of contact. ie. we don’t pay charges for it. It is funded from our taxation and is available to all regardless of the need. It includes everything from paramedics to xrays, to surgeons, to after care, all free of charge

We also have General practitioners - your family doctors, which are free. The only thing we pay for is prescription medication, but only when you live in the community. Wales don’t charge for prescriptions anymore and in Scotland the charge is frozen until it is abolished in 2013. we also have subsidized NHS Dentists so our dental costs are limited as well. In Scotland eye checks are also free as is personal care tasks for the elderly who require residential or home care support workers
