What are the cheapest electric cars with at minimum top speed of 65 mph (100 km/h)? Now? The near future?

I would really like to get an electric car in the near future and was wondering if there is any out there now that have a top speed of at least 65 mph (100 kmh). And I need something that is affordable (less than $20,000); so you don’t need to mention the Tesla Roadster (But I’d love to own it). Yea what are the best prospects for an electric car in the next five years with the top speed mentioned?

Green Vehicles Triac. Available beginning in July, it can go 80 mph and 100 miles per charge for $20k.

Or there’s also the Vectrix electric motorcycle which can go 62 mph for around $11k.

Regarding the other suggestions - as you note, the Xebra can only go 40 mph, the Nano will not be available in the US, the cityZENN will cost over $30k, as will the Chevy Volt. The Triac is surprisingly affordable - the cheapest highway speed EV that will be available for at least the next few years

Zenn Motor Co. (www.zenncars.com) is planning an electric car called the cityZenn. It will be available in the fall of 2009, has a top speed of 80 mph and a range of 250 miles. They say it will be rechargeable in less than 5 minutes.

Also check out www.phoenixmotorcars.com. They have a pickup truck (for fleets only now) but are planning to offer it and a car to the public. There was a problem with the first generation battery packs they use, but the battery company says they now have a 2nd generation pack that fixes the problem. That may have delayed the introduction of their car for a bit.

For the third car, check Chevrolet Volt, but according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_V… Chevy does not have a price yet but it may be around $30,000-$40,000. Planned for the 2010 model year.
